1MDB has completed its CSR programmes except a few which it remains committed to until fruition. There will be no new activities.

1MDB believes that education is an inclusive tool to secure a brighter future for all. We focus primarily on education-based initiatives to help develop talents, bridge gaps and enrich lives.

We team up with various organisations to provide education aid to deserving students regardless of their background.

This is also our contribution towards human capital development for the country.

Supplementary Food Programme Canteen Project

A collaboration with Yayasan Sime Darby and Sarawak Education Department to build 48 new canteens for primary schools statewide, to replace dilapidated structures previously used to provide meals to needy pupils under the Education Ministry’s Supplementary Food Programme.


A fund for eligible Parent-Teacher Associations from Government and Government-assisted schools nationwide to carry out educational activities and minor infrastructure development to enhance and complement the existing programmes developed by the Government.


Scholarship for Agama School students

1MDB partners with Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM) to provide scholarship and academic grant to deserving students from Sekolah Menengah Agama Rakyat and Sekolah Menengah Agama Negeri to study medicine, dentistry and pharmacy.

1MDB Academic Grant for Chinese Independent School students

1MDB partners with Dong Jiao Zhong and Huaren Education Foundation to provide academic grants to Unified Examinations Certificate holders from Chinese independent schools to help with their tertiary studies.

1MDB Academic Grant for SMC students

1MDB partners with Sri Murugan Centre (SMC) to provide academic grants to SMC students who excelled in their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examinations to further their tertiary studies.

Education Aid for SPM/STPM students

1MDB partners with the Ministry of Education and Public Services Department to provide education aid to deserving students who did well in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examinations.

Experience Works

A pilot programme that provides academic grants to deserving undergraduate students through job-assignments by their respective universities.  It is a collaboration with Yayasan Sime Darby aimed at lessening the burdens of needy students as well as increasing their job marketability.


A pilot programme involving a collaboration with Yayasan Pengaman Malaysia and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris to provide learning skills, motivational courses, team-building, career guidance, creative thinking skills and leadership courses to the children of policemen.


1MDB partnered with world-renowned non-profit organisation Khan Academy to translate educational videos relevant to the local syllabus into Bahasa Malaysia for better access by Malaysian students.  The videos are available here.
