Ever dreamt of rebuilding a nation? The E.P.I.C. project has dream of its own – to rebuild homes of the indigenous of Malaysia in various Orang Asli kampungs. Initiated in 2006, E.P.I.C. now aims to spread wider and built more homes with a global volunteer target. It is an excellent platform for Malaysian urban youths to build relationships with the Orang Asli. This also builds character and the right mindset and attitude.
WHAT ?
This project by Growing Emerging Leaders Sdn. Bhd. (GEL) project uses the ever ready available volunteer power of the youths to help erect houses for Orang Asli.
WHY ?
This project would provide a chance for these urban youths to build relationships and nurture spirit of unity with the rural folks. GEL not only aims to build houses but also provide a chance for these urban youth to interact with the rural folks.
HOW ?
This project will benefit the Orang Asli settlement in Kampung Hulu Tamu, Batang Kali. The volunteers will build 7 new houses and repair 20 homes that houses about 100 families. E.P.I.C’s modular design houses would be easily put up by an ordinary volunteer with no prior knowledge in house building. GEL not only has laid out a landing for youths contribute and give back to society, but also elevates the rural areas through their volunteer efforts. Bravo !
